Our History

Shining Families Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting families and individuals in the East Bay by providing essential resources, educational opportunities, and wellness activities. Our mission is to foster long-term well-being and success by ensuring that families have access to the tools and support they need to thrive.

Founded in 2024 by Danna Rios, a first-generation DACA graduate who understands the challenges of overcoming adversity, Shining Families Future was created with the vision of filling gaps in support for underserved communities, particularly those of color. As someone who experienced these challenges firsthand, Danna’s drive to give back to her community and create a brighter future for others is at the core of our work.

A 2023 study by the Bay Area Equality Atlas revealed that nearly two-thirds (64%) of the Bay Area’s population consists of underserved families and individuals of color, highlighting the critical need for support in these communities. Through Shining Families Future, we aim to address this need by providing:

Basic Essentials: Food, clothing, household items, and toiletries
Educational Resources: High-quality education and skills training to promote lifelong learning
Wellness Activities: Programs that support mental and physical well-being

We are passionate about not only filling these gaps but also empowering families and individuals to share their unique skills, explore new opportunities, and expand their knowledge. Our goal is to create sustainable, positive change that will support the community for years to come.

Laura is a passion for Early Childhood Educator. She’s dedicated to supporting children with special needs and advocating for families navigating the education system.

Jaqueline, is dedicated to improving healthcare access for underrepresented communities. Motivated by her own experiences she aims to bridge gaps in care and empower individuals to overcome systemic barriers.

At Shining Families Future, we are driven by a deep commitment to creating a brighter, more inclusive future for families and individuals in the Bay Area. We recognize that marginalized communities are often disproportionately affected by systemic challenges, including limited access to essential resources, opportunities, and support. These challenges can perpetuate cycles of poverty, disadvantage, and inequality, making it difficult for individuals and families to break free from the barriers that hold them back.

We believe in the power of community and the transformative potential of providing individuals with the right tools and resources. By equipping families with access to education, wellness, and essential needs, we enable them to rise above the hardships they face and create lasting change in their lives. Our programs are designed to empower individuals to not only survive but thrive—by developing skills, fostering resilience, and cultivating long-term success.
